Friday’s Feast – Texas Style

The chef is having technical difficulties, so Texas Tanya provided today’s feast. Enjoy!

Appetizer
When was the last time you had some bar-b-que?
Real BBQ – it’s been a long time, maybe since the spring… Grilled food, though, I had about a week ago.

Soup
How many pairs of cowboy boots do you own?
Not a single one. My Texan roots aren’t showing very strong, are they?

Salad
Finish this sentence: Mommas, don’t let your babies __________.
Mommas, don’t let your babies play in the street.

Main Course
Name a song that makes you think of Texas.
The Yellow Rose of Texas.

Dessert
Cowboy hats – Black or White?
I didn’t realize these were the main choices in cowboys hats. I guess I’ll choose white because it’s hot in Texas and that will reflect the light rather than absorb it all.

Appetizer
When was the last time you had your hair cut/trimmed?
I think it was in April, but it could’ve been at Christmas. I have long hair and don’t need much in the way of cutting to keep it that way.

Soup
Name one thing you miss about being a child.
Not minding cold water or cold weather and playing in them until forced to stop.

Salad
Pick one: butter, margarine, olive oil.
Normally, I’d choose butter, but in my dairy-free world that is off limits so I’ll have to go with olive oil.

Main Course
If you could learn another language, which one would you pick, and why?
Mandarin Chinese, because it would enable me to communicate with the most people and expand my phonetic vocabulary the most.

Dessert
Finish this sentence: In 5 years I expect to be…
a little bit wiser.

Soup

What is your favorite color of ink to write with? Purple

Dessert

In which room in your house do you keep your home computer? Kids’ playroom/office/dining room – it’s the room that originally was the 3rd bedroom. We used it as a dining room when we moved in and converted it to a playroom when toys started taking over the house.

Appetizer
When you drink soda/pop/coke, do you prefer to drink it from the bottle, a can, or after pouring it into a cup?
I rarely drink pop, but when I do it is Diet Caffeine-Free Coke (or orange pop) from a can.

Soup
What television show are you willing to stay up late to watch?
Bravo’s Top Chef, but sadly we don’t have cable anymore and youtube got rid of all the episodes there.

Salad

My true, if cheesy, answer is my hubby, Brian. He really is brilliant, not just in brain-smarts, but artistically too with a brilliant sense of humor!

Main Course
Would you be willing to work 4 10-hour days instead of 5 8-hour days in order to save gas?
I work 7 24-hour days, but it doesn’t save much money. My husband works 5 10+ hour days, but I’d be very willing for him to work 4 days instead, especially if it also saved us money.

Dessert
If you were a superhero, what would you call yourself?
Emogirl

Surely, sometimes snakes slither slowly.

Pretend you are about to get a new pet. Which animal would you pick, and what would you name it? I’d get a frog because it is the year of the frog and I’d probably let my daughter name it, so it’d be called something like: Froggy or Hoppy.

Salad

On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how much do you enjoy getting all dressed up for a special occasion? 10. I really love to wear nice clothes, shoes, and jewelry and do my hair. I feel so glamorous, but it really is for special occasions only!

Invent a new flower; give it a name and describe it.
A sparkling, wispy sort of purple petal with lots of petals making up the flower on top of a thin stem – inspired by Eila and therefore that would be this flower’s name.

Soup
Name someone whom you think has a wonderful voice.
Brian, my husband. He could be on the radio as a speaker, as our high school US History teacher once told him. And, I love to listen to him sing. I love to see other people’s reactions when they first hear him sing. I feel sort of proud, as if I had anything to do with it – Ha!

Salad
On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being highest, how clean do you keep your car?
2. I cannot remember the last time my car was washed; I have two young kids who eat snacks, play, read books, etc. in the backseat and when we get home we are often so eager to just get inside that I don’t go back and clean up so it piles up very quickly.

Main Course
How do you feel about poetry?
It’s nice.
